As Shohei Ohtani moves closer to making a free firm choice in the coming weeks, he supposedly desires his check outs with teams kept private.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported earlier this week that if a conference between Ohtani and any team ends up being public, the two-way super star will hold it against the interested club.
” If there is something to know about Shohei Ohtani’s free company, it’s that you are unlikely to understand much about it up until he signs somewhere,” Passan composed (h/t SI Now). “If visits in between Ohtani and a team are reported publicly, it will be held versus the group, so the circles will be tiny and tight.”
Ohtani arguably is the most in-demand free agent in MLB history, and the Giants are among the groups with interest in the 2021 AL MVP.
The Athletic’s Jim Bowden recently reported that he would not be shocked if the Giants out-bid all other teams for Ohtani, who supposedly could decide where to sign before or throughout the MLB Winter Conferences, which range from Dec. 4 through Dec. 7 in Nashville, Tenn
. NBC Sports Bay Location’s Alex Pavlovic composed earlier this offseason that Ohtani and Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto are the focus of the Giants’ offseason.
And it sounds like the very best thing the Giants can do to enhance their opportunities of signing Ohtani is to make sure nobody understands if he consults with them.
